I wrote this in the days following the Unraveled Academy retreat at the end of September. Life got busy, business got busy. I've sat on it for a couple of months, I've shared it with smaller groups of friends. I shared it with the people who inspire me. I'm not looking for sympathy. I just want others to know that someone else feels the same as them.
Though I love to do in home sessions all year round, now that it’s cold outside, these indoor sessions become a necessity. I’m grateful to the families who let me into their space to photograph their families. I have to more this coming week. I’d love to add more to my schedule.

I dont really remember where I left off with my Fall sessions. It was such a crazy end of the season, I just worked so hard to get all of my editing done. I am all caught up now. I have been for a little over a week. I have two more sessions to photograph in the coming week and then I'll be done for 2022! It's been a fantastic year. I'm making big goals for 2023. Goals that really, frankly, scare the crap out of me. Its good to do scary things, right? Thank you to this family who invited me out to their new home! I loved being given the chance to get creative in their gorgeous backyard.
I finally got the chance to take advantage of a friends studio in Madison. I had originally booked it to do holiday mini sessions. No one booked. I wasn’t going to talk about it, feeling like a failure. But I remembered all the wonderful people who booked with me this fall. I took advantage of the rental, even though Natalie gave me an “out”. I threw some clothes into a bag, grabbed my tripod, did my hair and set out to do some self portraits. After struggling with my wifi connection on the camera, I got going. I used the most of those two hours. Doing some boudoir for myself, headshots, motion blur. I just love them! Here's another one from the Forest Edge PTO sessions. My husband had been telling me to take photos at Goodland park for years, yet I never had the occasion. Since it's not far from FES, I decided to do these sessions there this year. Some families were very close, others were a little further away. But it's such a great location. So many mature oak trees along the lake.
I got some great pictures of kids on swings this year at the Forest Edge PTO fundraiser. Do you know how hard it is to get them to be somewhat clear? They are always moving!
Who else is already missing the warm days we had just a week ago?
