Yesterday started out cold and windy and threatening to rain. But then, around 4, the sun popped out of the clouds just in time for me to meet this family. We went exploring and played some games before the next round of thunderstorms hurried us back into our cars.
Just delivered another extended family session. They invited me to join them at their cabin for a reunion they do every year. I was so lucky that the cabin was situated on Castle Rock Lake with amazing scenery.
My family reunions always center around food and football. At some point in the day, we peel people off of couches who are in the middle of sleeping off turkey hangovers, begging them for a family photo in the front yard. There, 15 people would yell “Look at me” and no one would be looking at. the same person at the same time. There has to be an easier option. Now it’s just me that takes the photos and guess what? Everyone is looking at the camera!
These are our cousins! Extended family. But grateful to have them in our lives, even if we only see them once a year. Ive done their photos every year for the past four years. The first year is buried on my hard drive. I love so much watching them grow and change each year. I also like seeing how my work grows and changes each year.

I can't believe its been a year since we rented a cabin in northern Wisconsin for a long weekend. So much fun was had on that trip, after we all got over the stomach flu... We went out the first night to do some astro-photography. I wasn't willing to stay up late enough for the Milky Way to clear the tree line. But we still had some fun watching the almost completely dark shy.
Dad's working hard to get the littlest one comfortable with his older brother. But there's always fun to be had! A game of leap frog ensued.
